The STIHL MS 361 is particularly suitable for forestry applications in medium-density forests, including reforestation work.
The STIHL ElastoStart special starter handle makes starting the chainsaw much easier.
All functions, such as cold start, warm start, operation and shutdown, can be controlled comfortably and safely with the single-lever control, so that your right hand can always remain on the handle.
The compensator reduces the amount of maintenance work required because the engine output remains constant for a long time despite even as the air filter becomes more heavily soiled.

STIHL FOUR-CHANNEL TECHNOLOGY
FOR LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION AND HIGH PERFORMANCE. Thanks to STIHL four- channel technology, you can work with your power tool with very low fuel consumption and high performance. The four overflow channels guide the fuel-and-air mixture into the cylinder in a targeted and more compressed manner, which optimally burns the fuel and significantly increases the performance of the engine.
STIHL ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM
FOR MORE PLEASANT WORK. Vibrations can occur when you put your power tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your power tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.
STIHL ELASTOSTART
Due to compression pressure, jerky stresses occur when starting internal combustion engines. The damping element in the ElastoStart special starter grip alternately absorbs and releases force according to the compression pattern. The result is smooth, even starting.
TOOL FREE FUEL CAPS
Special caps to open and close the tank cap quickly, easily and without tools.
MANUAL DECOMPRESSION
The decompression valve is part of the easy starting system. The valve should be pressed before starting to reduce the compression pressure when starting, as well as reducing the effort needed to pull the starter rope.
COMPENSATOR
REDUCED MAINTENANCE. The compensator is a control system in the carburettor, which uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. You do not need to clean the air filter until there is a noticeable drop in performance. This means that you can work for a long time without maintenance.
STIHL EMATIC SYSTEM
Compared to conventional bars without Ematic, the STIHL Ematic system reduces the consumption of chain lubricant by up to 50%, depending on the type of wood and the cutting attachment used. This system comprises a STIHL Ematic or Ematic S guide bar, a STIHL Oilomatic saw chain and a variable-flow or reduced-flow oil pump. As a result, virtually every drop of chain lubricant is delivered to exactly the right spot.
QUICKSTOP CHAIN BRAKE
The chain brake on your STIHL chainsaw can be triggered automatically or manually. In both cases, the brake band encloses the clutch drum and prevents the chain starting to move even when the throttle trigger is squeezed. The chain brake is applied manually by pressing the front hand guard on your STIHL chainsaw forwards. It is activated automatically whenever a sufficiently strong kickback is encountered.
SIDE-MOUNTED CHAIN TENSIONING
FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
SINGLE-LEVER MASTER CONTROL
All important functions such as start, choke, throttle and stop are operated via a single lever.
CONTROLLED-DELIVERY OIL PUMP
OIL CONSUMPTION BASED ON NEED. The controlled-delivery oil pump reduces your chainsaw’s oil consumption by up to 50%. To use it, simply select the E position. For very long cutting attachments or very dry wood, an additional oil volume can be set by the user.
